Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received considerable medical training with an emphasis on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems stretching from standard problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the expertise crucial to carry out surgery on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
