Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat conditions stretching from usual afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which give them the experience required to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet regularly experience.
