Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable health care instruction with an importance on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to care for issues ranging from usual problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which give them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet generally encounter.
