Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical education with a concentration on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are educated to manage difficulties stretching from basic conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the expertise crucial to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet frequently experience.
