Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received encompassing health care training with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat difficulties varying from normal problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which supply them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet commonly experience.
