Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an importance on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to deal with problems stretching from common problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet regularly experience.
