Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained substantial medical instruction with a concentration on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. They are skilled to handle problems stretching from commonplace disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet normally experience.
