Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received wide-ranging medical instruction with a focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address concerns ranging from regular ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which give them the practical experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
