Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable health care training with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle concerns varying from standard problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which give them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet usually encounter.
