Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable medical education with an attention to on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to deal with concerns stretching from usual ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet usually experience.
