Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired significant healthcare education with an emphasis on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are qualified to treat issues extending from simple afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
