Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained thorough healthcare education with a stress on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to manage problems stretching from general conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which supply them the skill needed to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet regularly experience.
