Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are studied to manage concerns ranging from typical ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which give them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet usually experience.
