Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained encompassing medical education with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage concerns ranging from basic ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which furnish them the skill crucial to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally experience.
