Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a main focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to address issues ranging from basic problems like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of troubles which the feet normally encounter.
