Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and various podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received considerable medical training with an attention to on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle conditions varying from typical afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
