Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained thorough health care education with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat issues varying from regular ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which give them the expertise necessary to conduct surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against countless issues which the feet frequently encounter.
