Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive healthcare training with an importance on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to deal with difficulties stretching from familiar conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
