Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with a focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues varying from regular ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet usually experience.
