Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial medical training with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat concerns varying from basic afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent a large number of troubles which the feet typically experience.
