Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive health care training with a concentration on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat conditions varying from standard afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the prior experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet generally encounter.
