Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have acquired comprehensive medical instruction with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to address conditions stretching from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which provide them the expertise required to carry out surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent countless troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
