Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat conditions varying from commonplace ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which give them the expertise essential to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless complications which the feet generally encounter.
