Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality numerous podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical training with a main focus on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat difficulties ranging from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet commonly experience.
