Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable medical instruction with a main focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to address problems extending from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which furnish them the prior experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
