Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained extensive medical instruction with an importance on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are qualified to treat problems ranging from regular problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the skill crucial to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous conditions which the feet routinely experience.
