Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat complications extending from typical problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
