Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received substantial medical training with a stress on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to handle complications ranging from familiar conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet typically encounter.
