Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical training with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to handle problems ranging from commonplace conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the skill required to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet usually encounter.
