Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received significant medical training with a main focus on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle problems ranging from basic problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet usually encounter.
