Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial medical training with a concentration on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems ranging from simple ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the prior experience needed to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of conditions which the feet usually experience.
