They devote approximately a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality numerous podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive health care training with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to address conditions extending from commonplace ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet regularly encounter.
