Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging health care training with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to address problems extending from usual afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience crucial to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous problems which the feet frequently experience.
