Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical education with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage issues extending from general conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet normally encounter.
