Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing healthcare education with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues varying from commonplace conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet frequently experience.
