Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest around 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical education with a concentration on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to care for problems varying from common conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet normally encounter.
