Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired comprehensive health care training with a concentration on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage problems ranging from familiar disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet routinely experience.
