Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend about ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and several podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained encompassing medical training with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage conditions ranging from simple ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
