Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical training with an importance on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to address problems ranging from typical afflictions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience needed to perform surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet routinely experience.
