Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable healthcare education with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage difficulties extending from normal afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which supply them the practical experience crucial to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet frequently encounter.
