Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical education with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with complications varying from simple disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent numerous issues which the feet routinely encounter.
