Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.
Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare instruction with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to treat concerns varying from standard problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which give them the experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and defend against a large number of problems which the feet typically encounter.
