Physicians at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and several podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received substantial healthcare training with a focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to address conditions ranging from regular disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the experience essential to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.
Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid numerous problems which the feet usually encounter.
