Foot Institute Doctors put in approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging health care training with an emphasis on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to deal with complications ranging from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent countless problems which the feet generally experience.
