Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and a number of podiatry programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable health care instruction with an emphasis on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle problems varying from standard disorders such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the experience needed to execute surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of countless troubles which the feet generally experience.
