Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and actually numerous podiatry programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.
At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable healthcare education with an attention to on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to handle problems varying from typical problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against numerous problems which the feet normally experience.
