Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.
Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained wide-ranging healthcare instruction with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to deal with concerns extending from conventional disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet regularly experience.
