Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and numerous podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained encompassing healthcare education with a focus on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are qualified to address conditions ranging from conventional conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet commonly experience.
