Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained thorough medical education with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat concerns varying from conventional ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to carry out surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet frequently experience.
