Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging health care education with a main focus on issues involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to handle difficulties varying from standard disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against a large number of troubles which the feet normally experience.
